The brief
Beyond Water, a growing social enterprise in Malawi, had outgrown its existing website. As they evolved, they needed a platform that better reflected their mission and clearly distinguished them from their NGO partner, Pump Aid. The goal was to create a visually engaging and accessible site that showcased their impact, strengthened connections with donors and partners, and set the foundation for future growth.
I worked closely with the Beyond Water team to understand their journey, the challenges they faced, and their aspirations for the future. It was important that the website didn’t just look good but told a clear, compelling story about their work as a financially sustainable, locally-led enterprise.
We kicked off with a discovery session, diving into their values, audience needs, and long-term goals. From there, I developed a clear site map and content structure, ensuring the user journey was intuitive and guided visitors toward action—whether that was learning more, getting involved, or supporting financially.
With the foundations in place, I designed a minimum viable product (MVP), focusing on key pages that would set the tone for the full site. This early prototype allowed us to test layout, messaging, and functionality before committing to a full build. Once the MVP was developed in Webflow, we gathered user feedback to refine the structure and experience, ensuring the site met the needs of both Beyond Water and its audience.
Incorporating these insights, I expanded the design across the full site, introducing new illustrations and visual elements to reinforce Beyond Water’s identity while maintaining accessibility and consistency. With the designs refined, I developed the full site in Webflow, keeping performance, responsiveness, and long-term scalability in mind. Throughout the process, I worked closely with the team, making sure the final product truly represented their vision.
The new website provides Beyond Water with a distinct identity, clearly separating them from Pump Aid while reinforcing their credibility as a social enterprise. It presents their mission and impact in a way that is both engaging and easy to digest, making it easier for donors and partners to connect with their work.
By focusing on clarity, accessibility, and long-term growth, the website now serves as a powerful tool that supports Beyond Water’s mission to provide sustainable water solutions in Malawi.
